Software to Recover Files from Damaged Flash Card

Flash cards are some of the most useful portable storage devices to store the data such as photos, music & video files, e-books, etc. As they can be widely used in many multimedia devices, they are more prone to be getting damaged or corrupted. You should use good flash card recovery software to perform lost file recovery from corrupt flash card. Due to corruption, you may be forced to format the card which leads to loss of data. However, it is recommended to use this recovery utility to retrieve files from flash memory card after format. This software makes use of effective algorithm for rigorous scanning of the lost files to be recovered.  It is also used to recover data from memory card used in digital cameras for the recovery of photos, music & video files, as well as, RAW photos generated by most popular cameras such as Canon (CR2), Sony (ARW, SR2), Nikon (NEF), etc. In the case of accidental deletion of files, this software can be comfortably recommended to undelete deleted files from flash memory card. You can comfortably make use of this recovery tool to retrieve pictures from flash card.

The flash card recovery software can be used to recover lost data in various types of scenarios. Some of them  are mentioned below:

  • Virus intrusion: If a flash card is used over a network for a long time, it may become a target for virus attack. Also, if you connect your flash card to a virus affected computer, virus intrusion may happen on your healthy flash card; thus damaging it and the data stored on it.
  • Excess write/erase cycles: Flash cards are made up of NAND components, which can lose their ability to retain data after thousands of write/erase cycles. Hence, the older your flash card gets, the less reliable it becomes; and in the process, makes the data damaged. However, you can use a recovery tool to recover damaged flash card.
  • Retention failure: Retention is the factor which explains how long a cell in NAND flash can maintain its programmed state when the chip is not under power bias. The factors which degrade this retention duration are high temperature and the number of read cycles performed on the flash card. As retention duration reduces, chances of card getting corrupted increases. In such cases, you should use recovery software to restore data from flash card on Windows.
  • Incorrect removal of card: One of the most frequent reasons for flash card damage or corruption is removing the card from the computer or other devices incorrectly. Incorrect removal can refer to removal of card without using “Safe Remove” wizard, or unplugging card during a read/write process, or power shut down during accessing the data from the flash card. In any of these cases, card is not physically damaged, but the data is lost; and in some rare cases, this can damage cells which hold information of internal flash drive, and cannot be repaired or accessed by operating systems of host computers.

This software also has a Mac Edition which can be used to recover Mac flash card files.

Steps to undelete files from flash memory card after damage are as follows:

Step 1: Download and install the trial version of the software on your computer. Connect the flash drive from which data has to be restored, and launch the software by double-clicking the shortcut icon or from the Start menu. On launching the application, main screen with three options appears, as shown in Fig. A. Select “Recover Photos” option.
